Elliott Farm is your cost effective and convenient place to pasture board your mares and geldings year round. Basic care, by on site farm family, consists of feed, water, and monitoring.
Below are some questions we commonly get asked.
What is the cost to board my horse?
Summer rates are currently $100 + gst per horse per month, with a 5% discount given on the second or subsequent horse owned by the same family or owner group.
Winter rates are summer rates plus the cost of feed. The feed + gst costs are determined annually by market conditions. There is no discount given on the cost of feed.
Where are the horses kept?
We have several different pastures available, and the horses are rotated throughout them in the summer.
What type of fencing do you use?
We currently have fencing which includes page wire, barbed wire, and 4-rail wood.
Do you provide or have access to a farrier?
No. We used to have a regular farm farrier, but discovered that most boarders had a preferred farrier, so we discontinued that practice.
Do you provide or have access to a veterinarian?
In the event of an emergency, we will call your preferred veterinarian. If he / she is not available, then upon your instructions, we will call the first available veterinarian.
What services do you provide?
Currently, we do not provide any services other than providing basic care.
Is there a riding arena?
No, we do not provide a riding arena. You are free to ride anywhere on our 40-acre farm.
Is there a round pen?
No. We currently allow you to use one of our smaller pastures for training purposes.
How do I water my horse?
The horses drink from water troughs placed in each pasture. We continually truck in fresh water from the Ardrossan Water Tower (city-water).
How do I water my horse in winter?
We use the same water troughs as in summer, but we use electric heaters to warm the water to keep it from freezing.
Do you house stud horses?
No. We only accept mares and geldings.
